CURIOSITY

In 1981 at Cathedral of St. Paul it had celebrated the wedding of Lady Diana, Princess of Wales, and Charles of England. After some month, Lady Diana visited Japan, for the occasion Japanese magazines have dedicated many pages about this event, including what I propose below, which devoted the entire issue to the Princess, and one of them asked to Riyoko Ikeda to draw some tables that celebrated the visit and the Princess.

The Alfee is one of the longest band of Japan, made up in 1974 by Toshihiko Takamizawa (vocals and electric guitar), Kohnosuke Sakazaki (vocals, acoustic guitar, percussion) and Masaru Sakurai (vocals and bass) the whole of to-day they never changed their inside mformation and they continue to have a big success in our homeland. In 2004 for their 30° anniversary of the debut it was presented at their fans, "THE ALFEE 30th ANNIVERSARY HIT SINGLE COLLECTION 37" containing all their success singles plus a bonus track. On this occasion the group asked to Riyoko Ikeda to cure the cover of the box and all the gadgets.

In 1993 a picture from Riyoko Ikeda’s manga “Prince Shotoku”, was used to celebrate the 1400th anniversary of Shitennoji Temple in Osaka, the more ancient Buddhist temple in Japan. The manga tells the story of Prince Shotoku, first supporter of Buddhism in Japan, who wanted and erected the Shitennoji Temple.The picture appeared on stamps and other promotional material, and diffused all around Osaka, which is also Ikeda’s hometown.

In 2006 in occasion of 80th Anniversary of Margherita of Savoy, la Nipponham asked Riyoko Ikeda to create a drawing of the queen to be printed on their frozen Pizza’s boxes, and other promotional material (such as paper cups, paper dishes, wine…) as competition prize for its clients.

Pizza Margherita takes the name from the Queen Margherita, to whom the dish was dedicated.
